Teaching

John and Jane Whittington have lived in France for the past five years, and have been involved in the line dance scene over here for most of that time.  As keen line dancers themselves, they set about looking for clubs in the region as soon as they arrived, and they have been involved in much of the development of line dancing around the region.  John has been teaching line dancing for three years, and is a fully qualified BWDA instructor.  He also holds a diploma in line dance tuition in France, one of the first instructors in France to gain this qualification.  Jane holds a BWDA level 1 certificate, which qualifies her to teach beginners, although she prefers to 'back-wall' for John.

The Courses

For complete beginners, John uses a fully structured course based on the AB programme originally developed by Val Myers (visit his site here).  John has developed a second year programme which brings class members from beginner level to lower intermediate level using a similarly structured approach.  His objective is to teach class members 'how to line dance', rather than to 'teach line dances' to them, thereby equipping them to cope with more complicated dances at an earlier stage.

The Classes

The classes take place at the Salle des Fêtes, Carolles.  The times are as follows: -

Tuesday 8.30pm - 9.30pm           Novices  (at least 1 year's linedance experience)

Wednesday 8.00pm - 9.00pm       Complete Beginners

Wednesday 9.15pm - 10.15pm      Intermediates (at least 2 years' linedance experience)

You would be very welcome to come along and visit us to see what line dancing is all about!  The beginners class for this year is full, but there still remain some places in the Novices and Intermediate classes.
